She’s got looks and talent, and it shows.

Here’s a sneak peek:

Art Zaratsyan http://www.artzaratsyan.com <![CDATA[No reflector? No problem!]]> http://www.artzaratsyan.com/?p=1457 2012-01-16T20:31:52Z 2012-01-16T20:31:52Z So I moved a couple of weeks ago, and naturally, everything is a mess. And when a friend asked me to shoot a few quick business headshots, I just couldn’t seem to find my trusty PhotoFlex 5-in-1 reflector anywhere. (I remember packing it in the last moments of my move and stuffing it into the one of the last remaining open boxes, and now I have a mountain of boxes and it could be in either one of them!)

But what I found instead was—sound the drumroll—a large disposable baking sheet!

So there: 15 minutes, a baking sheet and a nice day make for a pretty nice shot, if you ask me.

Art Zaratsyan http://www.artzaratsyan.com <![CDATA[Flashback]]> http://www.artzaratsyan.com/?p=1431 2011-08-27T01:13:34Z 2011-08-27T01:06:11Z It turns out my mother has kept my first ever camera (yes, the Soviet-made camera I mention in my Bio). I was so happy to hear that it’s still around, I immediately asked her to email me some pictures. Which she did, thanks mom, love you! :)

Here it is, along with its original box, next to a box of matches. Hmm, still in great shape, I guess my tendency to be very “particular” with my things existed even back then.

Agat-18, my first camera

Such a nostalgic feeling, looking at these photographs. I swear I can imagine hearing the sound the camera makes when you pop it open, I remember feeling it in my hands…

Agat-18, my first camera

This tiny beast fits 72 frames on a 36-frame 35mm film roll and boasts an impressive 28mm f/2.8 lens. But all that really meant nothing to me back then, I was just happy to snap a picture of everything I could.

Agat-18, my first camera

Funny, I remember seeing an SLR a kid in my neighborhood had back then and dreaming of owning one. Who knew that rangefinders like these would be what I look for in the used camera stores a quarter of a century later…

What was your first camera?
